Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev And the Trump family

The Outsider's take
Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev covered hundreds of thousands of dollars in wedding expenses for Donald Trump Jr.’s lavish ceremony, including renting a private island and paying for the fireworks display.
Kremlev, the head of the International Boxing Association and an ally of Putin, generously funded Trump Jr.’s May wedding weekend in the Bahamas. His team helped plan the event and covered expenses like renting one of the private islands where the reception and guests’ accommodation took place. The island rental cost around $100,000 per night and the fireworks display was approximately $70,000. These payments were routed through a Dubai-based entity, IB Challenger, which the IBA uses for its finances.
A spokesperson from the Trump family didn’t deny the involvement, describing Kremlev as a “personal friend” rather than a business associate. Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson countered the framing in an Instagram post, clarifying that they married privately and that Kremlev funded a separate celebratory weekend that followed the wedding, not the event itself. Kremlev leads a sanctions-scrutinised boxing federation financed by Gazprom, and his financial ties to the president’s son have drawn increased attention, particularly as Trump has adopted a more favourable stance towards Putin. This includes exerting pressure on Ukraine regarding war-related concessions.
